I am not from anything a poem by Rumi

I know none other
except ‘Ya Hu’ and ‘Ya man Hu.’

I am intoxicated with Love’s cup,
the two worlds have passed out of my ken;
I have no business save carouse and revelry.

If once in my life I spent a moment without thee,
From that time and from that hour I repent of my life.

If once in this world I win a moment with thee,
I will trample on both worlds,
I will dance in triumph for ever.

O Shamsi Tabriz,
I am so drunken in this world,
That except of drunkenness and revelry
I have no tale to tell.

    “I am neither Christian, nor Jew, nor Parsi, nor Moslem…. I belong only to the soul of the Beloved” Yet millions feel they should be a part of religion to be close to God.

    Francesca, I don’t think that quote was disparaging of being part of organised religion as much as emphasising how the Sufi, as he reaches higher levels of faith, sees himself as God sees him, without the divisions that humans create for themselves in the context of organised religion. God is of neither East nor West. God is not partitioned into various modes of faith. God is Unity.
