Viggo Mortensen- Man of Courage and Convictions

Those who work to improve life and eliminate suffering have learned what it means to be human beings. Those who work to inflict suffering upon the “others” are those who have not yet been fully developed conscientious human being. Viggo Mortensen has became the embodiment of the message of peace and brotherhood by making best use of his intellect and knowledge. When I come across people like Viggo then it feels like finding a gemstone under a pile of rocks. Brotherhood of humanity is the meeting place to be WHOLE and ONE!

“We actually have more in common with other people, other cultures and other races, than not. People need to make a conscious effort to try and find some common ground, rather than react to what they see as differences.” Viggo Mortensen

“This year’s first day of April was noticeably lacking in April Fool’s jokes as far as mention in the media was concerned. Perhaps this is due to the fact that, with George Bush and Dick Cheney still at the helm of the ship of state, there is no need to single out a particular day for foolishness or nasty pranks in the United States: every day is April Fool’s day in this country for the time being.”  Viggo Mortensen

“Among the most revered of teachings in any religion or spiritual code of ethics, including those attributed to Jesus Christ, is the admonition to care for the least fortunate among us. This lesson seems to have gone unheeded by any in the health care and insurance business, and, most tellingly, by the politicians who do their often uncharitable and obstructionist bidding.” Viggo Mortensen

I would recommend watching some of the films he has played in, especially the films, Hidalgo, Lord of the Rings, A History of Violence, The Road, and Witness. The script of Hidalgo film could have been much better.  Viggo does a brilliant acting work to show beauty of the human heart and mind. He is a person of deep consciousness. Hidalgo is a must watch film.

I would like to read some of his poetry work. If you have read any of his poems then please share some on this page.

Thank you Viggo Mortensen for all the work you have over the last three decades.

Unfortunately I’ve only a few on my PC archive cause I’ve all his books (I bought them at Perceval Press the editorial that Mortensen founded in 2002, so if you are interested you can go and see directly at http://www.percevalpress.com/index.html?-session=pp_sc:D7D29FFCEA768FCCDDAE07B38BCE54FC), however, here are some, though not really illustrative, examples( but I really suggest you tu buy some of his books )

this is one is from Ten Last Night, the only one book published before Mortensen found Perceval Press

    REMAIN

    It’s nice how your veil
    gives you black freckles
    in the graveside sun.
You are the last picture on the wall,
hanging in the corner of the hall.
I wish I could touch your face, your back,
the way you breathed on my pillow,
    lightly and openly.
It was hot and you had been sleeping
all day long in my bed.
What I have now is a photograph of you
at a funeral where relatives whispered
like snakes, shiny and well-dressed in the grass.

    EMBRACE

    The rain is infected
    with bacteria
    from secret experiments
    of lonely men
    and women.
    It is that time
    between winter
    and spring
    that is dismal
    and threatening,
    when the city
    is airing its sweat-
    stained corridors,
    opening its arms
    and legs imperceptibly
    for an hour each morning.

    Calm voices give whispered
    instructions and hands
    flutter
    in the streetlight
    hiding animal faces
    that glisten
    with swollen
    red tongues.
    Quietly,
    they devour
    each other.

I’ve no idea if you know that many Mortensen’s poems are in Spanish

    CHACO
    Me cago en la selva
    Como los monos
    Con sus dientes
    Perfectos y amarillos
    Sin tenerle miedo
    A ningun tigre.

and this is another one without title
    TRAGUÉ EL BAGRE
    Y EL ANZUELO
    Y LA FE QUE
    TAN DULCE TENÍA
    LA TARDE DEL DIA
    QUE TE CONOCÍ.

    ME VI EN TUS OJOS
    Y EN TUS BRAZOS;
    UNA VIDA ENTERA
    EN TU BOCA VIVÍ
    LA TARDE DEL DIA
    QUE TE CONOCÍ.

I’m sorry to don’t have the time to write more poems, let mi know if you want more and I’ll do my best.

Thanks for the nice entry and Happy New Year.

Providing information about Viggo’s art it’s ever a pleasure for me, he is one of the most impressive and onest artist (and person) I’ve met in years.

I believe so. All flow of current is blocked when shackled by the ferocity of animals within. Beauty flows from the inner depths of sanctity, Man at liberty. Not a great idea to be a vegetable Man.

          Once again, thank you.

Viggo believes in common ground with all people.
    Except with conservatives.

Thank you Jackal for your comment. I am sure Viggo has intelligible reasons for not believing in common grounds with conservatives. As far as I know, Viggo Mortensen is the man of reason with depth.
